Powering Prosperity 2018 Rules and Guidelines:

The OSEA awards are designed to celebrate leadership in the award criteria:  sustainability, efficiency, community participation, engagement, good governance, responsible leadership, environmental stewardship, fairness.   Nominees can be self-nominated or nominated by others with their agreement.

There are awards in the following categories: 

  • Leadership Award
  • Community Project of the Year

  • Sustainable Project of the Year
  • Non Profit Organization of the Year
  • Sustainable Enterprise of the Year
  • SMARTpreneur of the Year 
  • Green Energy Doors Open Special Recognition Award (Non-nomination)

General Rules and Guidelines:

Based on the documentation submitted, Award winners will be selected according to the following criteria:

1. All nominees must comply with the following:
  • be nominated for projects or initiatives that are located in the province of Ontario or originated in Ontario
  • be nominated for projects/ initiatives/ activities that were completed within the previous 5 years or are still ongoing (Projects with completion dates older than 5 years will not be eligible.
  • be for projects or initiatives that incorporate one or several of the following concepts: sustainability, efficiency, community participation, engagement, good governance, responsible leadership, environmental stewardship, fairness.
2.    All nominees must complete the online nomination form by December 22nd 2017. Click here for Nomination Form

3.    Completed nomination form must consist of:
  • A short Summary of reasons for the nomination highlighting relevant factors outlined in the nomination criteria (max. 500 words)
  • 1 high resolution photograph (300dpi) must be submitted and should be taken within the last 12 months. Background must be plain with a full front view of the Subject's head and shoulders.
  • 1 copy of nominee’s biography; Note the Biography should not be more than 300 words.
  • Supporting documentation, including letters of support and samples of work, reports, newspaper articles, case studies, polls, websites, copies of relevant awards, photos, video or audio recordings or transcripts should be submitted for review.

4.    All nominators will be notified of receipt of the nomination package. Incomplete nomination packages will not be considered but nominators will be informed if anything is missing and can submit the missing documentation, as long as any missing documents are submitted before the final submission deadline.

5.    Original nominees from previous OSEA awards are eligible for re-nomination. Also, persons who have already received an OSEA award will now be considered and can be nominated again.

6.    Individuals may be nominated for a maximum of two categories.

7.    Each nomination package must be tailored to the specific category. This is particularly important if you are applying for more than one (1) category.

8.    The decisions of the selection committee are final and are not subject to review. However, the Board of Directors of OSEA at its discretion reserves the power to reject their decisions and make changes as they see fit.

9.    Award nominees and award winners will be notified.

10.  Award winners are required to attend the Powering Prosperity Awards dinner. (A deputy may be appointed, if attendance is absolutely not possible.)

11.  All submissions become the property of OSEA, and will not be returned to the nominees.

12.  Award winners may be required to participate in a speaking engagement promoting the Powering Prosperity Awards and must be available for media interviews. In addition, winners of a Powering Prosperity award must consent to the use of their photos and biographies by OSEA in any of its promotional material.

Nominations must be received at the office of OSEA no later than 5:00 p.m., Monday January 8th 2018.
