Toby Heaps


CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Corporate Knights Inc.

Corporate Knights Inc. is the company for clean capitalism.  In 2005, he spearheaded the annual global ranking of the world’s 100 Most Sustainable Corporations, and he has been published in the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Toronto Star, and the Globe and Mail. In 2008, Toby served as Press Secretary to Ralph Nader. Before founding Corporate Knights, Toby was the managing editor of the Mutual Fund Review magazine and Planning for Profits magazine. In 1998, Toby played centre-field for Yugoslavia's National Baseball Team.

Julia St. Michael


Director of Sustainability, Enwave Energy Corporation

Julia joined Enwave in 2017 as the company’s first Director of Sustainability. Through connecting with government and policy makers, commercial real estate professionals, building operators and managers plus supporting organizations (such as CaGBC, QUEST, BOMA Toronto, ULI, IDEA), Julia represents Enwave within the green building and sustainable energy community, identifying new opportunities for projects and partnerships. Responsible for communicating the sustainability benefits of district energy and supporting the development of low carbon strategies, she works with multiple groups to address climate change-related risks within Enwave’s operations and new projects. The release of Enwave’s inaugural ESG Report and the launch of its Green Financing Framework in 2020 were exciting achievements that Julia and her team will continue to build on moving forward while also highlighting the vital role district energy plays in accelerating the energy transition in Canada.

Scott Dodd

Director, Business Development, Enbridge Gas Inc.

Scott Dodd was appointed Director of Business Development in October 2016.  He and his team are responsible for identifying new business opportunities in Enbridge Gas Distribution's service territory.  From 2011 to 2016 Scott was the Senior Project Director, Major Projects, responsible for planning and executing major construction projects for Enbridge and its affiliates. Scott has provided Project leadership for over $4 billion of projects including over 1,500 MW of wind and solar projects and over 400 km of gas and electrical transmission projects. Scott has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 2000. He has an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and a BA in Economics and Honours Business also from the University of Western Ontario.

 

Sarah Bertollo


Head of Sales, Bullfrog Power

Sarah Bertollo is responsible for leading the commercial sales team and growing Bullfrog’s business in off-site renewable energy solutions. Sarah joined Bullfrog in 2012 as a member of the regional sales team and has worked with a variety of Bullfrog’s customers in all aspects of their sustainability journey—from educating them on the choice to purchase renewable energy for their operations to assisting them in demonstrating their sustainability leadership. Prior to joining Bullfrog Power, Sarah worked on the strategic partnerships team at World Wildlife Fund Canada, as a management consultant at a boutique non-profit consulting firm, and in sales and account management at global private education organization. Sarah holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Physical Anthropology from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

Jonathan Hackett


Head of BMO’s Sustainable Finance Group

Jonathan Hackett is the MD and Head of BMO’s Sustainable Finance Group, which brings together capabilities from across the bank to mobilize financing for a sustainable future. The group is responsible for raising capital and providing financing for clients pursuing sustainable outcomes, offering advisory services to assist our clients in addressing their sustainability and managing BMO’s impact investment fund.  Jonathan joined BMO in 2017 as a Managing Director of Strategy in BMO’s Office of Strategic Management where he supported the bank’s Executive Committee on several initiatives including the development of BMO’s purpose statement and commitment framework. He is also a part of the working team on the bank’s efforts to promote Inclusive Local Economic Opportunity with the United Way of Greater Toronto. Prior to joining BMO, Jonathan was a Principal at the Boston Consulting Group where he was a member of the financial services, strategy and risk practices, supporting clients across North America. His work there included projects supporting strategies for various Canadian governmental and non-governmental organizations on innovation, economic development and competitiveness.

Jonathan holds a PhD from the University of Waterloo where he was a doctoral student in residence at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. His research focused on topology, particle physics and quantum gravity.

Andrew Lin


Managing Director, Infrastructure, Power and Utilities, DBRS Morningstar Credit Ratings

Andrew leads the Infrastructure, Project Finance and Utilities rating teams at DBRS Moningstar globally. The Infrastructure Finance group covers traditional social and civil infrastructure assets such as Public-Private Partnerships, toll roads, ports and airports.  The Project Finance group is responsible for rating non-recourse industrial projects, primarily in the power and energy sectors.  The Utilities team covers regulated utilities and independent power developers. He also led the firm’s corporate ratings expansion into Europe, managing the London and Madrid analytical staff.

Before joining DBRS Morningstar, Andrew was head of project finance at Bilfinger Project Investments where his team structured and managed the financing for Bilfinger’s infrastructure developments in North America. Andrew also held several senior management positions at Infrastructure Ontario, including treasurer and head of credit for the infrastructure loan program, which included lending to solar, hydro and biogas power projects sponsored by municipal utilities. He spent ten years at Borealis Infrastructure leading and managing transaction teams to acquire infrastructure assets. Earlier in his career, he was an investment banker specializing in structured finance at Scotiabank and a bond portfolio manager at Sun Life Investment Management.

Andrew is a professional engineer and is a CFA charterholder. He studied Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo and completed his MBA at York University’s Schulich School of Business. He is also a part-time finance course lecturer at York University’s Schulich School of Business.

 

Lars Boggild, CFA


Senior Manager, Banking and Investments, Vancity Community Investment Bank

Lars is a creative thinker working at the intersection of finance and social change. He currently supports new business relationships across lending and investments for Vancity Community Investment Bank, Canada’s first bank dedicated to social and environmental impact. Prior to VCIB, he worked at Rally Assets leading impact investing advisory projects that built practical strategies for asset owners to deploy more of their investments towards social and environmental good. Lars also sits on the Canadian Community Economic Development Network’s National Policy Council, the Investment Committee of the Evangelical Lutheran Foundation of Eastern Canada and is the Board Chair of Not Far from the Tree, Toronto’s urban fruit picking project.
