On Tuesday, May 1st, 2018, Novella Magazine and George Brown College will be launching their first annual GRASP conference focused on an exploration of sustainability through the three sectors of fashion, food, and design.
The fashion industry is not exempt from the ever-growing importance placed on sustainability. Increasing overproduction, labor violations, and environmental destruction are some of the few pressing issues that will be addressed at the conference.
Speakers include Sage Paul, an artist, and leader for Indigenous fashion, Amit Kalra, a planning manager that designs and produces his own clothing, Christina Abbott, founder of an e-commerce shopping platform for eco and social warriors, and Sarah Power, founder of Canada’s leading retail pop-up. GRASP is a free event that will provide unique information for fashion students, Novella readers, industry experts, and interested members of the public.
