Green EnergSoutheast Asia Export Forum

Over the past decade, Ontario has developed a sophisticated sustainable energy ecosystem comprised of technology manufacturers and distributors, consulting engineers, energy consultants, a variety of contractors, finance companies, insurance services, and other related ancillaries.

Ontario has also become a leader in developing both on-grid and off-grid renewable power solutions - including solar photovoltaic, wind turbine and hydroelectric facilities - with industry leaders like Canadian Solar, Brookfield Renewable Energy and SkyPower.

Southeast Asia is a diverse region, and is comprised of 10 countries: Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, which together form the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). The region has a strong value proposition - taken as a whole, it is the seventh largest economy in the world and is projected to become the fourth largest economy by 2050.

ASEAN co-operates in a number of Cleantech-related areas: (1) nature conservation and biodiversity; (2) transboundary environmental pollution (mainly due to Indonesia’s slash-and-burn clearing of vegetation for palm oil, and pulp and paper plantations); (3) environmental education; (4) environmentally sound or minimally impactful technologies; (5) chemicals and waste; (6) coastal and marine environment; (7) water resources management; and (8) climate change.

OSEA in partnership with MEDJCT has organized a forum to help introduce sustainable energy technology companies to the rapidly growing energy hungry Southeast Asian market.  Several

of these nations (Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore & Vietnam) together with Canada are members of the recently ratified  The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Attend the forum to learn more about real time opportunities in ASEAN and hear about best practice from companies that have seen significant success in the region. The networking reception will also include representatives from the ASEAN consulates based in Toronto.
