TRAIN TO BECOME AN ENERGY MODELER
INTRODUCTORY HOT2000 ENERGY MODELING
FOR NEW & EXISTING HOMES
HOT2000, also known as H2K, is the energy modeling software developed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to perform energy modeling for new and existing single family homes.
HOT2000 is used for the design of all high performance new houses in Canada including those designed to comply with EnergyStar for New Homes.
While used across Canada, in Ontario HOT2000 is of particular relevance to homes built in accordance with SB12, the Sustainable Building energy performance requirements of Part 9 of the Ontario Building Code, the standard for single family homes.
HOT2000 is also being used for assessing the energy status of existing homes under the new Canada Greener Homes Program which offers Canadian homeowners grants of up to $5,0000 for approved energy retrofits.
Our one day E102 Introductory HOT2000 Energy Energy Modeling for New and Existing Homes provides a basic understanding of this modeling tool including how the modeling works and the codes and standards that are referenced and used to create and interpret Hot2000 standards. This course is ideal for architects, developers and government officials who need to be able use the data generated for new and existing houses.
E202 Advanced HOT2000 Energy Modeling for New and Existing Homes is a two day in depth application of this modeling tool for the design and optimization of a single family home. Students of this class should be able to produce and then refine the design of a home in order to optimize its energy performance.
